Join them as an apprentice and you’ll be turning our designs into reality, learning from world-class experts, as well as customers, suppliers and operations specialists.**What you’ll be doing:**You’ll spend your first year completing your foundation training at Glasgow Clyde College which will give you a broad understanding of manufacturing engineering principles. Alongside job-specific training courses you’ll get to study for a BEng Honours Engineering: Design and Manufacture degree at Strathclyde University on day release from year 1 onwards.From your second year, you’ll embark on a series of six-month placements on site at Rolls-Royce InchinnanDuring year 2, you will complete a 10-week training course, in person, at either our Derby or Bristol sites. Travel expenses will be paid.Across your apprenticeship you’ll gain practical knowledge in areas such as developing new technology, introducing new products and continuously improving existing manufacturing processes and controlling change, implementing digital manufacturing solutions and interfacing with suppliers. Alongside this, you’ll learn how to manage projects and costs, how to design and validate manufacturing processes, how to solve engineering problems, and how to implement quality assurance methods.**Who we’re looking for:*** Five National 5s or equivalent at grade C or above, which must include Maths and English* 4 SQA Highers (B grade or higher) including Maths and PhysicsIf you have already achieved your Highers, you’ll be required to sit a 9-week online Maths course and test with Strathclyde University. Any offer which you are made prior to completing this will be a conditional offer until you have successfully passed this additional entry requirement and have been accepted by Strathclyde University. If you are completing your Highers this academic year, you’ll need to achieve the required grades, but you’ll not need to sit the additional course and test.Every bit as important as your academic achievements, however, are the personal qualities you bring to the role. Creativity and an agile approach are both important, as are problem solving skills and collaborative team working.Above all, you'll need to be passionate about manufacturing, as well as analytical, highly motivated, and most importantly, endlessly curious about how things are made and how processes work.Our behaviours drive us - we put safety first, do the right thing, keep it simple and make a difference.
