Planning Officer – Emergency Planning Team Shirebrook, England, United Kingdom Salary £34,434 - £39,152 per annum Employment Details Type: Fixed Term – 6 months Work pattern: Full Time – 37 hours per week Work Base: County Hall, West Bridgford, NG2 7QP (Hybrid – remote or County Hall) Working Arrangements: Hybrid Competency Framework: Tier 7b Closing Date: 19 December 2025 23:55 Role Overview This role supports Nottinghamshire County Council’s Emergency Planning Team, creating, maintaining and validating emergency response arrangements for major emergencies across the county. The post includes business continuity planning, liaison with local authorities, emergency services, government departments, voluntary organisations, industry and health organisations. The successful candidate will work mainly remotely but may be required to visit County Hall. Responsibilities Develop and update emergency response arrangements for major emergencies. Plan and coordinate business continuity for the County Council. Deliver effective presentations and training events to stakeholders. Maintain communication and collaboration with local authorities, emergency services, and other partners. Participate in the on‑call duty officer rota (approx. 1 in 7 weeks) and respond outside normal working hours. Maintain a full driving licence and access to a car; live within Nottinghamshire or close by. Qualifications & Experience Excellent project management skills. Strong communication and planning skills. Experience in emergency planning or a related role is preferred but not essential. Willingness to work under pressure and during crisis situations. Full driving licence and access to a car. Resident within Nottinghamshire (or close by) to fulfil on‑call duties.
