Governance and Compliance Officer Invictus Education Trust, Dudley, West Midlands. Start date: ASAP. Contract: Permanent. Work: 20 hours per week, term time only, or 780 hours annually (annualised). Grade 7 (SCP 18–23). FTE salary £31,537 – £34,434. Actual salary: £14,846 – £16,504 for 20 hours per week, term time only; £14,849 – £16,212 for 780 annualised hours. We are a Multi‑Academy Trust comprising six secondary schools and one primary school with over 750 employees and over 5,500 students. Role Overview Reporting to the Director of Strategy and Governance, you will support effective local governance across the Trust. From clerking meetings and advising on compliance, to managing governor recruitment and maintaining accurate records, your work will directly support our mission to deliver outstanding education. Responsibilities Clerk LAC and panel meetings, ensuring accurate minutes and procedural compliance. Provide clear and timely advice to Local Academy Committees (LACs), ensuring associate governors understand and fulfil statutory and strategic responsibilities. Manage local governance recruitment, induction, and training records. Maintain up‑to‑date governance documentation and statutory registers. Support data protection, Freedom of Information, and complaints processes. Promote a culture of strong governance and professional integrity. Assist in the resolution of school‑level complaints, exclusions, and hearings in accordance with the Trust’s policies and procedures. Deliver high‑quality administrative and clerking support that underpins effective governance and contributes to the Trust’s strategic priorities. Qualifications and Experience The ideal candidate will bring experience in educational governance—preferably within a Multi Academy Trust—and demonstrate a strong sense of professionalism and pride in their work. They will be adaptable, proactive, and capable of working flexibly across multiple priorities, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. A meticulous attention to detail and commitment to upholding the Trust’s values and governance standards are essential. Requirements A valid driving licence and own car covering business use are required, with flexibility for early evening work.
