About the Department The Emergency Department at Chelsea and Westminster Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is a dynamic, forward‑thinking, busy department that sees approximately 140,000 patients per year. Job Overview Successful candidates will work on a full rota with regional higher speciality trainees, clinical fellows with interests in research, ultrasound, sports medicine and simulation. The rota incorporates CPD days and study leave opportunities, and encourages self‑rostering. Key Responsibilities Supervise FY2s and resident doctors under the supervision of Consultants. Hands‑on clinical work alongside middle‑grade doctors. Carry out the new patterns of work, including the lead‑middle‑grade, resus‑lead and rapid assessment team roles. Run the daily review clinic. Ensure professional development opportunities are taken advantage of. Key Qualifications & Requirements ST4+ equivalent in Emergency Medicine. Certificates in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) – either already held or to be obtained during the appointment. Ability to pursue a fellowship in a chosen specialty area. Experience working within an emergency department setting is essential. Work Arrangement Posts are self‑rostered with a fixed 12‑month contract. Posts are available from December 2025 onwards and flexible start dates may be accommodated inline with service need. Fellowship postholders are awarded up to 20% non‑clinical fellowship time; the remaining time is spent providing Emergency Medicine care on the full rota. Applied candidates will be authorised to confirm previous NHS service details via the Inter‑Authority Transfer (IAT) process, should they be appointed.
