Specialty Doctor in Emergency Department This specialty doctor post at West Suffolk Hospital is an exciting opportunity to join the middle‑grade rota in the Emergency Department, delivering high‑quality care for patients of all ages and supervising junior clinicians. The role includes managing undifferentiated emergencies, contributing to trauma care, and upholding the standards of both the Trust and the Royal College of Emergency Medicine. Part of the multidisciplinary clinical team as a specialty doctor in the Emergency Department. Provide high‑quality care, knowledge, and skills for patients directly or by supervising and floor‑managing junior clinical staff. Maintain the standards of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine and West Suffolk Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Assume clinical responsibility for patients brought to the department by emergency services, self‑referring or referred by GP. Deal with unexpected emergencies, including those resulting from infectious diseases such as COVID-19. Be part of the Trauma Team coordinating management of major trauma. Be immediately available for opinion, guidance, and advice on any patient seen by a junior clinician in the ED at any time during the rostered duty shift. Assist in conducting follow‑up reviews of patients where considered appropriate by the Consultants. Contribute to the production of departmental clinical management guidelines in line with evidence‑based best practice. Attend in the event of a hospital Major Incident call if available and off duty. Maintain patient confidentiality. Identify and act appropriately upon safeguarding issues in children.
