We are seeking dynamic and skilled clinicians to join our multidisciplinary Urgent Care team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment that combines clinical autonomy with peer support. The post-holders will attend to patients presenting with either a booked appointment or an unscheduled care need, providing assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and advice on their continuing medical and care needs. You will be working alongside a diverse and experienced team including General Practitioners, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Paramedic Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners, and Trainee ACPs. This setting offers the perfect balance, empowering you to make independent clinical decisions while being surrounded by colleagues for support, case discussion, and shared learning. We welcome applications from: Paramedic Practitioners Paediatric Practitioners Advanced Clinical Practitioners(ACPs) Other clinicians with strong consultation and assessment skills in urgent/primary care Main duties of the job You will be assessing, diagnosing, and managing a wide range of presentations including minor illness, minor injury, and pediatric conditions depending on your area of expertise. Minor injury experience is desirable however, for the right candidate, teaching and support can be provided to develop these skills within our team. About us Blackpool Urgent Treatment Centres are services delivered by Bloomfield Medical Ltd. Both Urgent Treatment Centres are open access services based in the Health Centre on Whitegate Drive and co-located with Blackpool Teaching Hospital Emergency Department. The Urgent Treatment Centres aims are to deliver convenient accessible primary care services and are open every day of the year. Blackpool Urgent Treatment Centre is open from 8am to 8pm and Blackpool Victoria Urgent Treatment Centre is open 8am 10pm. The successful candidate will work across all sites, as required depending on patient demand, and the candidate's skills and experience. Job responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities (All Practitioners) Assess, diagnose, treat, and advise patients presenting with a wide range of minor illness and injury presentations, ensuring safe, evidence-based, and person-centred care in line with individual scope of practice. Perform relevant clinical procedures, including collection of pathology samples and minor interventions, as trained and competent. Ensure clinical practice remains safe, within scope, and escalated appropriately when limits are reached. Maintain up-to-date and accurate clinical records and documentation, using appropriate systems. Keep up to date with mandatory training. Contribute to patient flow by supporting appropriate streaming, clinical prioritisation, and safe throughput. Band 8a practitioners may also: Take a lead in mentoring and coaching team members across the service. Lead on clinical audits, service evaluation, and implementation of new clinical protocols or guidelines. Assist in recruitment, appraisal processes, and ongoing professional development within the team. Act as a shift lead or senior decision-maker, maintaining oversight of safety, flow, and clinical escalation (once ready). Support team learning by contributing to debriefs, case discussions, or reflective learning. Promote adherence to clinical governance, safety standards, and best practice. Person Specification Management and Leadership The ability to demonstrate understanding of the current issues affecting Primary Care services. Evidence of commitment to support, develop and manage change. Evidence of good organisational and leadership skills. Evidence of the ability to manage and motivate a team. Experience of recruiting and selecting staff. Experience of developing clinical policies and procedures. Communication Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with difficult situations. Teamwork Commitment and experience of multi-disciplinary team approach to care. Proven ability to lead and motivate a team. Teaching Commitment to own personal development. Evidence of training and development of staff and teams. Qualifications Registered Nurse/Paramedic/Paediatric or Health Care worker with professional registration. Clinical experience within an unscheduled / scheduled/urgent / primary or secondary care setting. Ability to assess and treat those with minor illness. Teaching qualification. Non-medical prescribing v300 qualification. Minor injury exposure or willingness to learn. Advanced Clinical Practitioner qualification. Paediatric exposure. Experience 5 years post registration experience. Well-developed and honed clinical skills and proven ability to work under pressure and meet targets. IT and computer literate. Experience of Adastra clinical computer system. Experience of EMIS Clinical computer system. Experience in independent X‑ray Interpretation. Teaching Experience. Experience of managing a team and individuals. Personal A good sickness and absence record. A clear DBS. Excellent team leadership qualities. Must have a positive can do attitude, with an ability to deal with stressful situations. Willing to work unsocial hours across multiple sites. Proven flexibly in working patterns, including evenings and weekends. Ability to travel between sites to undertake split site duties if the need occurs.
