Hill Care Saltburn-By-The-Sea, England, United Kingdom Job Description Location: Hazelgrove Court Nursing Home, 10-14 Randolph Street Role: Chef / Cook To organise and control the efficient and economic production of quality food within the allowed budget, whilst maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in line with EHO regulations. Responsibilities Prepare, cook and serve hot and cold meals as required. Provide for special dietary requirements and consider client preferences. Liaise with the Home Manager when planning/costing menus to provide a balanced nutritious diet. Arrange/participate in staff and client meetings as required. Maintain accurate records of food supplies, freezer/fridge temperatures. Ensure stock rotation, order stocks, check deliveries and value stocks. Prepare staff rota for kitchen. Interview new staff members with Home Manager as required. Supervise and instruct kitchen staff on equipment and hygiene procedures. Conduct basic food hygiene training for care staff. Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence; attend mandatory training. Ensure statutory health and safety standards; clean and store crockery/equipment properly. Report illnesses or accidents; maintain safety policies. Promote a positive personal/professional profile; maintain confidentiality. Carry out any other tasks reasonably assigned. Qualifications City & Guilds 706-1 & 2, or equivalent (achieved or working towards) Basic Food / Hygiene Certificate Good communication skills Team player Ability to work on own initiative Satisfactory Police Check and POVA List check (where applicable) Desired Intermediate Food / Hygiene Certificate Previous supervisory experience Experience of food preparation for the relevant client group Contract Full-time; Salary £12.38/hour; Closing Date Sunday 30th November 2025 About the Company Hill Care provides high‑quality residential, nursing, and dementia care tailored to each resident’s needs, promoting dignity, choice, and independence.
