Principal Health and Safety Consultant Permanent, Full time About the role Make a real impact on health and safety across Bristol City Council. As Principal Health and Safety Consultant you will act as a trusted advisor and internal consultant, working closely with managers and teams across the council to embed best practice and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation. You will be part of an experienced corporate team that leads on implementing the council’s health, safety and wellbeing strategy and the management system based on the PLAN‑DO‑CHECK‑ACT approach. You will also have the opportunity to shape and deliver key projects, including the development of policies and procedures, strengthen health, safety and wellbeing initiatives, and use data to proactively prevent incidents by identifying trends, analysing risks and measuring the effectiveness of interventions. Key responsibilities Act as a trusted advisor and internal consultant across the council’s services. Embed best practice and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation. Lead the implementation of the corporate health, safety and wellbeing strategy. Develop and refine policies and procedures in key areas. Analyze risk data and use it to prevent incidents and measure intervention effectiveness. About you NEBOSH Diploma and membership of a UK health and safety professional body. Proven experience providing specialist advice in complex environments. Strong collaboration and communication skills. Ability to work at pace and manage competing priorities.
