You’ll get stuck into hands‑on design and build work straight away, learning faster than in a typical graduate scheme. This isn’t a place where you spend a year doing small tasks in the corner. You’ll be designing, building, testing and iterating from the start. Some days you’ll be deep in CAD; others you’ll be helping build a prototype or solving unexpected problems in the workshop. If you like switching gears and doing real engineering, rather than staying stuck behind a screen, this is a strong fit. Here, you’ll work across mechanical design, development, prototyping and problem‑solving with senior engineers who are genuinely hands‑on and will involve you in meaningful work. That means faster learning, better mentoring and clearer visibility of how real products come together. If you like making things, trying things, figuring things out and being trusted to have a go - this place rewards that mindset. You don’t need to wait for permission or perfect information to make progress. What you’ll do Produce CAD models and design work using any modern 3D CAD platform (company‑specific tools will be trained). Support “design and build” project work, including prototyping, testing, and assisting with hands‑on engineering tasks. Apply strong engineering fundamentals (strength, tolerance, manufacturability) to real‑world product problems. Contribute actively to multi‑disciplinary project teams – communicate progress, raise issues early, and support team leads. Work pragmatically across varied tasks: design one day, support physical builds or assemblies the next. Solve problems with limited information and take initiative to move work forward without waiting for step‑by‑step instructions. Learn new tools, processes, and domains quickly; seek guidance when needed but operate independently where possible. What you’ll need Confident with at least one 3D CAD tool (SolidWorks, NX, Catia, Fusion, etc.) and a strong grasp of engineering principles and applied reasoning. Evidence of design/build experience, such as student competitions (Formula Student, UAV/UAS, rail, drone teams, etc.), Hackathons, engineering clubs, major personal builds, restorations, or significant internship projects. Proactive, resourceful and comfortable figuring things out with minimal hand‑holding. Demonstrated ability to pick up tools or skills quickly and a hands‑on, “maker” mentality – someone who likes to build, tinker, prototype or fix things.
