Building Management Systems (BMS) Consulting Engineer Location: London, Croydon, Brighton, Sheffield, Manchester, Cardiff, Belfast, Glasgow (UK) Contract Type: Permanent Overview of the Role We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Building Management Systems (BMS) Consulting Engineer with experience of working as a control systems integrator to join a team of Building Services Discipline serving the Built Environment and other Sectors. The role will be mainly project‑delivery focussed but also will support technical capability, staff development, project profitability and project bids. The BMS controls team works across multiple sectors including Aviation Buildings, Utilities and Energy, Residential, Defence, Healthcare, Local Authority, Sports and other sectors in the UK and overseas. The role will work across a variety of BMS, automatic controls, smart infrastructure and systems including but not limited to building management systems, building services controls, building ELV, cabling systems, data centres, telecommunication systems, IP networks. Candidate Specifications We are recruiting a candidate to build client relationships (both internally and externally) with excellent project delivery, communication and engagement skills. The candidate will be self‑motivated and capable of delivering high quality designs, specifications and technical advice to time and budget, with minimum supervision. Candidates will have a strong background in controls manufacturers, systems integrators or collaborative consultancy and design of BMS controls and associated systems. Candidates will also demonstrate experience and capability across the project lifecycle from requirements capture, concept design, detailed design, construction and handover. Strong written and verbal communication of technical issues to varied technical and non‑technical audiences will be key to success. Essential Experience of working at a controls system integrator Experience of leading on BMS and systems elements and some multi‑disciplinary projects Enthusiastic and ambitious with a strong teamwork ethic Excellent communication skills, including report writing and presentations Experience managing client relationships and expectations with accountability for one or more key customer relationships and delivery of outputs Working as a BMS, controls and systems specialist providing high level advice to others Desirable Ideally CEng and a member of the IMechE, IET or CIBSE (or recognised equivalent). Track record of achievement and innovation, delivering complex projects or new services Managing and supervising the work of other professionally qualified staff Well‑developed professional network externally and desire to build internal networks within the organisation Up to date knowledge of current building regulations, legislation and standards applicable in building / infrastructure design in the Built Environment Self‑motivated, with the ability to work on own initiative and the confidence to make decisions UK Immigration Mott MacDonald Ltd. are not currently offering sponsorship to candidates under the Skilled Worker visa route in the UK.
