Estates Officer Closing date: 18 December 2025 Responsibilities Manage, design, develop and implement minor capital projects (≤ £1m). Assist the Capital Projects Team on major projects, supporting delivery of the Trust’s Capital Programme. Provide a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Develop and maintain close working relationships with Estates Operations Managers and other Estates & Facilities Managers to achieve an effective, integrated service. Communicate estates policy and technical information to senior managers; negotiate with contractors, consultants, local authority officers and other bodies. Implement the Trust’s Capital programme in line with national NHS plans, the Trust’s Service Development Strategy and other relevant initiatives. Ensure user briefings reflect clinical, functional and operational requirements. Brief and manage external design consultants. Lead project teams including design consultants and contractors. Contribute to business planning and management team meetings. Support the Capital Team in achieving Divisional and Corporate objectives. Provide professional advice to the division and the Trust across estate functions. Manage capital project budgets, implement change control processes, and develop cost‑improvement options. Participate in planning, workforce, education and development processes supporting the Trust and Divisional strategy. Alert Divisional management to service and cost implications and represent the Estates division during planning. Implement new practices and developments within the EF&PFI Division. Support a culture of initiative, equity, fairness, equality, and inclusivity; manage health and safety compliance. Person Specification Essential Skills, Ability & Knowledge Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral. Sound project management abilities. IT skills – Microsoft Office Suite; competent with AutoCAD or similar, Microsoft Projects or equivalent. Capability to manage own development and use technical information related to engineering/construction projects. Experience Design and management of minor engineering/construction projects. Knowledge of standard contracting forms in building and engineering (NEC3/4). Good working knowledge of Capital Investment Manuals and familiarity with the P23 process. Education & Qualifications HNC/HND in Engineering or Construction related subject, or recognised professional equivalent. Basic knowledge of healthcare codes, standards, procurement routes and statutory/legal processes for site development. Personal Qualities Effectiveness in gaining cooperation and compliance from external parties. Maturity in dealings with multi-professional and multi-agency groups. Strong commitment to personal development.
