Job Summary The Band 5 Occupational Therapist will join the multidisciplinary urgent care CAMHS Service, delivering therapeutic day provision and "think family" community support for children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties. The Occupational Therapist plays a pivotal role in supporting a recovery-focused environment where early intervention and intensive support are key. The post holder will work as part of the Think Family Outreach Team with the aim to support children, young people and their families who are in emotional distress and either at risk of requiring crisis intervention from Crisis and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT) or Acute Hospital Settings. The clinical offer is tailored to suit each individual young person/family's needs and focus on empowerment and skills. The post holder will provide clinical assistance and support to the professional qualified staff in the delivery of a range of Psychoeducation interventions to support the crisis management and recovery. Main Duties To effectively manage a caseload of children and young people with mental health and occupational performance needs based on the nature, complexity and urgency of each individual case. To plan and provide occupational therapy in consultation with other colleagues and work in a range of settings as appropriate (e.g. community, health centre's). To adopt a family centred and trauma informed approach to therapy, collaborating with children and young people (and/or carer(s) where appropriate) in all aspects of the therapy process (assessment, planning, evaluation, reporting). To select and conduct specific specialist occupational therapy assessments, addressing the physical, emotional wellbeing, psychosocial, behavioural, perceptual, cognitive, sensory and environmental needs of clients. Person Specification Knowledge (Essential) – Significant experience of undertaking assessment, formulation, risk assessment and positive risk management; ability to demonstrate and apply problem‑solving skills to a variety of situations; ability to demonstrate and apply understanding of safety issues; NICE Guidelines, Mental Health Act, Children Act. Qualifications (Essential) – Relevant professional qualification (occupational therapist); current registration with relevant professional body; experience with mental health and emotional wellbeing. Experience (Essential) – Substantial experience/knowledge in mental health.
