Clinical Psychologist / CBT Therapist / Senior Clinician The closing date is 10 December 2025. We currently have 2 full‑time and 1 part‑time Clinical Psychologist/CBT Therapist/Senior Mental Health Clinician Band 7 vacancies in MHST – 1x Full Time (37.5 hours a week) based at Unither House Chertsey, 1x Full time based at either Unither House, Chertsey or Trust HQ, Leatherhead, 1x part time (30 hours a week) based at Unither House Chertsey. Building on existing whole school approaches to mental health and wellbeing, Surrey is developing new MHSTs to work with selected primary and secondary schools to increase access to mental health interventions for children and young people up to the age of 18 years. Our MHSTs have 3 core functions: supporting families and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties by delivering evidence‑based interventions in schools; providing timely advice and consultation to schools; and supporting schools to deliver whole school approaches to mental health and wellbeing. Each MHST is co‑located in schools, operating from the four main geographical hubs, with services delivered across the cluster of schools for each area. Main duties of the job As a Senior Clinician you will mentor and/or supervise the development of EMHPs in your team, building a culture of high‑quality clinical practice. You will grow and nurture trainees and newly qualified EMHPs, utilising your experience and skills to ensure they develop into well‑rounded clinicians. You will take the lead in building relationships with senior leaders in schools, providing regular case consultation, support and advice, and acting as a link to the wider children’s mental health services. Together with the Clinical Lead and educational psychologists, you will develop programmes of work to support schools with their whole school approach goals, enabling more sustainable, holistic change. Finally, you will hold a small caseload, delivering direct interventions to CYP and families. There will also be an opportunity to attend a fully funded Supervision training (Supervision of Therapeutic Practice) at either Sussex or Southampton University for clinicians who meet the course entry requirements. Person Specification Qualifications Professional degree qualification relevant to the specialist field (including but not limited to Psychologist, CBT Therapist, Nurse, Social Worker, OT, Art Therapist etc.) Membership/registration of relevant professional body Valid UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes Supervision Qualification Experience 2 or more years’ experience working therapeutically, clinically, or consultatively within a CYP educational or mental health setting, with children and young people with mental health difficulties and their families, post qualification. Experience of leading on / driving multi‑agency collaborative working Experience of monitoring performance and outcomes Experience of supervising or mentoring junior members of staff Experience conducting complex formulation and managing clinical complexity. Experience of delivering CBT informed practice Experience of delivering mental health interventions in education settings Experience of delivering CBT informed supervision at low intensity level Experience in whole school approaches to mental health in education settings Experience of providing professional consultation and advice Experience of leading clinical practice / service development / project work Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
