Employment Type: Full - time (35 hours a week) Duration: 2-year fixed term contract Remuneration: Level B from $127,947 base (plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading) Visa: Full Australian working rights for the duration of the contract will be required Location: Kensington Campus, Sydney NSW This Job is based in Australia Why this role matters A Senior Research Associate (Level B) with mixed-methods research expertise is expected to carry out independent and/or team research in the field of trauma care, with a focus on management of traumatic fractures in resource constrained settings. The role of Senior Research Associate reports to the Professor and has no direct reports. Key Accountabilities Required Engage in individual and/or collaborative research in a manner consistent with disciplinary practice. Create scholarly impact in the discipline which is recognised by peers in the advancement of disciplinary knowledge. Conduct research/scholarly activities under limited supervision, either independently or as a member of a team. Establish a personal research portfolio and start developing independent research proposals. Contribute to the development of applications for competitive funding under the guidance of senior colleagues. Participate as co-investigator or chief investigator in competitive grant applications, or show evidence of active participation in research collaborations funded by competitive grants. Lead qualitative data management within the process evaluation of the 5-country HIPCARE trial under the guidance of Australian investigators. Develop and maintain qualitative data management tools and processes where necessary, supporting qualitative data management at regional HIPCARE trial sites. Analyse qualitative data, interpret findings and draft manuscripts, in collaboration with qualitative researchers at regional HIPCARE trial sites and Australian HIPCARE investigators. Contribute to research processes, liaise with study investigators and analysts, and contribute to manuscript preparation the Inormus Study. Key Skills Required A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience. Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments. Demonstrated track record in research in hip fracture care and/or healthy ageing, particularly in low and middle-income settings. Developed peer networks in orthopaedic research in the Asia-Pacific region. Demonstrated expertise in designing, conducting and analysing qualitative research using rigorous, ethical and participatory methods to generate actionable insights for policy and practice. A track record of significant involvement with the profession and/or industry. High level communication skills and ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff. Proven ability to write, edit and publish high-quality scientific manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, demonstrating strong analytical, writing and editorial skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships. Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
