POSITION TITLE: Store Lead
STATUS: Non-Exempt / Part Time or Full Time
DEPARTMENT: Donated Goods Retail
REPORTS TO: Retail Store Manager
SAFETY SENSITIVE: LOW – position is not subject to pre-employment physical or drug & alcohol screening.
The starting wage for this position is $19.27 per hour.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE JOB: As a Store Lead, you will provide supervision to the Donated Goods Retail (DGR) staff in the absence of a Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager by prioritizing their day based on daily business needs and expectations to ensure goals and objectives are being met to maximize the store's daily potential.
PROVIDES SUPERVISION TO: In coordination with the Store Manager and/or Assistant Store Manager(s), the Store Lead will give direction to all DGR employees, participants, clients, and volunteers assigned to the location.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible to understand, perform, and train team on all Retail Associate essential job functions including One-Touch, as referred to in the Retail Associate job description.
- Perform basic store operations as assigned, i.e. open/close, safety drills, personnel oversight.
- Uphold a high-quality store experience for the external and internal customer.
- Intake and process donations to achieve or exceed the daily production and sales goals.
- Assist store management with training the employees, consumers, participants, clients, and volunteers in proper work habits and organizational policies and procedures.
- Perform cash handling responsibilities with accuracy and timeliness, including operation of the cash register, preparing bank deposits, and completing the daily store report, when assigned.
- Enforce loss prevention and safety procedures at all times for employees, consumers, participants, clients, volunteers, shoppers, and donors.
- Handle and resolve customer inquiries and complaints tactfully and professionally.
- Respond positively to the public and represent Goodwill in a professional manner at all times.
- Provide leadership to team members.
- Motivate assigned staff to achieve and exceed goals.
- Back up any position in the department as needed to accomplish goals.
- Attend all safety meetings including online safety training as required.
- Exhibit positive leadership resulting in a positive work atmosphere for customers, clients, participants, co-workers, and management.
- Perform other job duties as assigned by management.
- High school diploma or the equivalent required.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
- Customer Service skills; retail experience preferred.
- Experience leading people or teams.
- Ability to use computer programs to perform daily tasks.
- Ability to understand and calculate basic math functions.
- Organized and able to work independently.
- Must be accessible by phone.
- Respect for others.
- Good communication skills, both in writing and orally, to relay information within the business; to respond appropriately to legal and/or sensitive issues.
- Ability to perform effectively and cooperatively as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Exposure to all weather conditions/elements. May be working outside with uneven walking surfaces and cement floors and/or inside on carpet, linoleum, tile, or cement floors. Will experience moderate to extreme variations in temperature and weather, exposure to vehicle fumes, moderate to low noise level, and moderate to high levels of dust. May experience overhead lighting as well as both direct and indirect sunlight. Frequent to constant interactions with the general public.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Continuous bending, stooping, stretching, and walking with mobility throughout the store. Continuous simple grasping. Frequent to continuous fine finger movement to operate cash register. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds repetitively, up to 50 pounds occasionally, and maneuver up to 400 pounds using assistive equipment. Continuous speech and visual skills required.
PROMOTIONAL & DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES:
Position is promotable to Assistant Store Manager with demonstrated mastery of skills, relevant training including supervision, administrative tasks, and understanding of business needs, goals, and objectives. All promotions are based on business needs.
