Director - Manager Selection - Future Growth Capital Seeking an experienced investment professional to serve as Director – Manager Selection at Future Growth Capital (FGC). The role reports to the Head of Manager Selection and is responsible for sourcing, analysing, diligencing, negotiating, structuring, and monitoring investments in funds, mandates, and co‑investments across the private markets universe globally. Who We’re Looking For We are looking for a seasoned investment professional with deep expertise in private markets, a strong academic background, and a proven track record of direct risk‑taking. Advisory backgrounds will not be considered. About Future Growth Capital Future Growth Capital supports the UK’s Mansion House Compact by unlocking investment opportunities in private markets for pension savers. We aim to deploy an initial £2.5 bn as part of a planned £10–20 bn investment over the next decade, focusing on UK and global private markets. FGC manages multi‑private asset solutions for UK insurance and pension clients, providing exposure to innovative companies and seeking to diversify and enhance investment returns for millions of pension savers. We have established two Long Term Asset Funds (LTAFs) covering a global‑excluding‑UK investment universe and a UK‑only offering. Location / Flexible Working The role is based at the Schroders HQ in London (1 London Wall Place). While the policy supports fully flexible working, the team works from the office 4–5 days per week, and in‑person due diligence meetings are a key expectation. What You’ll Do Lead investment transactions end‑to‑end across asset classes including private equity, venture capital, infrastructure equity, infrastructure debt, real estate debt, and private credit. Transactions may be SMAs, primary fund investments, secondaries, or co‑investments. Contribute to structuring SMAs tailored to FGC’s funds, parameterised by alpha signals identified through the selection process. Collaborate with internal and external legal, tax, ODD, and product development advisers to drive commercial outcomes, ensuring alignment with the Head of Manager Selection’s process and expectations. Gather and synthesise market intelligence via independent research, networking, and engagement with private market managers, enhancing the firm’s relative value framework and generating actionable investment ideas. Represent the Manager Selection function externally and support business development activities as required. Act with integrity, respect, and the highest standards of professionalism within FGC’s One Team culture and in accordance with the regulated nature of the business. Support the Head of Manager Selection in training and developing early‑career colleagues on the Manager Selection team. The Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications You Need Strong academic background – typically a top‑tier undergraduate degree and/or a relevant postgraduate qualification (e.g., MBA, MSc Finance, CFA). Proven track record of investment experience at a reputable sell‑side or buy‑side institution with direct risk‑taking experience highly desired. Deep subject‑matter expertise in 1–2 private market asset classes and an active network of manager and intermediary relationships. Experience leading end‑to‑end transactions in private market asset classes, especially secondaries and co‑investment transactions. Excellent teamwork, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to express complex financial and strategic concepts clearly.
