Site Engineer

Main contractor seeking a Site Engineer to support the delivery of a large-scale residential development in the wider Thames Valley region. The project has recently commenced, and the engineer will be primarily involved in RC frame activities during early stages, with responsibilities expanding as the build progresses. Role Overview Reporting to the senior project team, you will play a key role in ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance throughout all RC frame and early-stage structural works. This role is ideal for an engineer confident in pre-pour inspections, QA documentation, and working closely with subcontractors to maintain high standards across the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Conducting pre-pour checks, inspections, and sign-offs for RC frame elements. Carrying out spot checks on reinforcement, shutters, embeds, and concrete works to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications. Supporting setting out duties as required for structural elements and interface points. Reviewing and interpreting drawings, ensuring all works align with current revisions and technical requirements. Completing detailed QA documentation, maintaining accurate records, and supporting handover processes. Verifying completed works by RC frame and structural subcontractors to ensure adherence to design, tolerances, and industry standards. Assisting with coordination of concrete pours, sequencing, and daily planning with the wider site team. Participating in site meetings and liaising with project management, commercial teams, and health & safety. Using digital tools and tablets to log inspections, track progress, and record QA checks efficiently. Contributing to the resolution of on-site technical issues and raising RFIs where necessary. Ability to use surveying equipment such as Total Stations and laser levels when assisting with setting out tasks. Ideal Candidate Minimum 3 years experience working as a Site Engineer, ideally with RC frame exposure. Engineering Degree/Diploma or similar technical qualification. Strong understanding of structural drawings, reinforcement detailing, and concrete processes. Confident using Microsoft Office and construction-related software (e.g., AutoCAD). Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with subcontractors and internal teams.
