We need an Apprentice Recreation Assistant who will… Responsibilities Learn to be an effective communicator with other team members. Be part of a motivated team fully embracing our company values. Deliver high customer service standards. Ensure high levels of cleanliness and housekeeping are maintained within the centre. Ensure equipment setups are completed safely and on time. Work in a team to support peers and colleagues to meet the goals of the business. Communicate (written, verbal) accurately and effectively in line with legal requirements. Undertake the operational housekeeping of the leisure facility, including assembling, dismantling, routine maintenance and storage of equipment, cleaning tasks and opening/closing procedures. Monitor customer use of equipment and ensure their safety, intervening as necessary. Comply with legal requirements to ensure safety, security and well‑being of all colleagues and customers, such as Equality Act, HSE Act, COSHH, RIDDOR, Safeguarding and Protecting Children, Data Protection, BSI and European guidelines, first aid regulations. Use IT including front‑of‑house system, social media and digital channels. Perform all duties of a swimming teacher, including delivering lessons that develop water confidence, core aquatic skills and safety across a range of participants from non‑swimmers to advanced, and supervising and leading swimming teacher assistants. Perform the duties of a lifeguard, working as part of a team to provide safe supervision of swimmers and prevent accidents, and to intervene for rescues and life‑saving techniques when necessary. Perform all duties of a gym instructor, including conducting gym inductions, client consultations, assessment, review and health screening, applying anatomy, physiology, human movement, biomechanics and fitness training techniques, and planning, reviewing and delivering safe and effective gym‑based exercise programmes for individuals and small groups. Plan activity sessions tailored to participants and their goals. Undertake pre‑activity screening and health and safety checks when leading group sessions/classes. Lead groups using appropriate communication methods and instruction styles and apply suitable group management techniques. Qualifications GCSE in Maths (grade 4) and English (grade 4). Swimming skills (competent swimmer). Physical fitness. Team working. Communication skills. Organisation skills. Will achieve National Pool Lifeguard qualification during the course. Will also achieve swimming teacher and fitness qualification. Benefits 12‑month work‑based programme including on‑ and off‑job training leading to a Level 2 Leisure Team Member qualification. Wage £14,133.60 for the first year, with potential increase depending on age. Enhanced DBS check completed before start.
