Construction - Mechanical Design Engineer - (Wastewater Treatment Projects) Glanua Ref: #JOB-2418356 Aldermaston United Kingdom, United Kingdom Job Description We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer who can demonstrate the following attributes: Commitment to excellence in Health & Safety (H&S) in design, complying fully with the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM) and all other relevant H&S legislation. In‑depth knowledge of the layout and interconnectivity of typical water and wastewater treatment works processes and equipment, including pumping systems. Strong communication skills to interact with other engineering disciplines and clients. Ability to produce clear and concise mechanical design deliverables across all design stages of a project. Ability to manage design delivery and project manage. Leadership skills to manage and motivate individuals to consistently deliver. Willingness to contribute to and develop technical knowledge networks. A drive to be abreast of professional development and knowledge of current and emerging technical solutions. Flexibility to travel within the UK (including Northern Ireland) and Ireland. Main Duties and Responsibilities Reporting to the Design Manager and part of a multi‑disciplined team of engineers responsible for producing design deliverables for water, wastewater and process treatment plants. Assist in all aspects of mechanical design from site surveys of existing assets, optioneering, feasibility studies, detailed design and tender pricing. Production of procurement specifications for mechanical equipment, hydraulic calculations and production of detailed design construction drawings. Project manage third‑party designs and provide design assistance to installation and commissioning teams. Liaise with clients and subcontractors. Work as part of a team to support project delivery function, embracing the ethos of a “one team” culture. Ensure Design, Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to. Monitor design delivery performance and efficiency, adjusting and reacting as necessary to achieve targets and keep the MIDP up to date. Produce mechanical design outputs as required and ensure Glanua & the Clients’ Technical Requirements are met throughout the design. Conduct regular meetings with project delivery teams to allocate resources, monitor the plan and adjust as necessary. Monitor and update Design Change Control and liaise between Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil & Structural Designers. Candidate Requirements Essential Minimum 1 year experience. Minimum qualification: Level 7 (incl Diploma & Ordinary Bachelor Degree). Desirable Ability Skills: Administration, Analytical, Communications, Computer Literacy.
