Science Tutor Department: Recruitment - South East Employment Type: Contract Location: Guildford, Surrey Compensation: £25.00 - £35.00 / hour Description Can you inspire hope for the most vulnerable young people? For those with SEN and SEMH needs, attending school can feel impossible. Overwhelming classrooms, lack of understanding and pressure on resources often leaves them without vital support and many end up as unwilling or unable to attend. Being out of education, these young people are desperately in need of your experience, expertise and understanding, which is why you should consider working with Fresh Start in Education. Working on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis, in placements set up and supported by our dedicated team, you will plan, deliver or support bespoke learning programmes designed around your student’s needs and interests. What You’ll Be Doing Providing 1:1 Chemistry and Biology support to children and young people in their homes or specialist settings in Guildford, Surrey. Delivering personalised, creative sessions that reflect each learner’s needs, interests, and abilities. Sessions run during the school day (term time only) and typically last 3 to 5 hours. Working flexibly as part of a compassionate, expert-led team that values you, your skills and creative input. Engaging with students who may have autism, global developmental delay, or complex needs, helping them achieve outcomes at their pace. Who We’re Looking For We welcome applications from: Qualified Science teachers with experience supporting children and young people. Those with a background in Secondary and Post 16 teaching, or specialist SEND environments. Professionals with experience or interest in working with students with autism, communication needs, and learning difficulties. Individuals who are semi-retired, changing career path, or seeking a more flexible role in education. A minimum of 2 consistent weekdays of availability. Up-to-date understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Familiarity with Makaton, PECS, or other communication strategies along with de-escalation and behaviour management training is an advantage.
