Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust Vision Scientist (Ophthalmic Imaging) The closing date is 09 December 2025 We are excited to advertise the position of Vision Scientist (Ophthalmic imaging) who will be an essential part of the ophthalmic imaging team at GOSH. You are expected to deliver high-quality Ophthalmic Imaging services at GOSH, ensuring compassionate communication with children and families. An ability to adapt to complex patient needs, while maintaining a calm and supportive environment during stressful situations is essential. The imaging modalities will include, but are not limited to, basic imaging assessments (Optos UWF imaging, Spectralis OCT, fundus photography) and, following training, may include advanced procedures (FFA/ICG, B‑scan ultrasound, handheld OCT, intraoperative OCT), under supervision until competent. The role requires an individual with high attention to detail, experience of accurate data entry across clinical systems (EPIC EPR, acquisition platforms), and experience of data management such as archiving and backup of imaging devices. The individual should be able to fault‑find, troubleshoot and appropriately escape technical or clinical issues in a timely way. Administrative duties include coordination of specialist imaging appointments, documentation of patient events or episodes, in line with trust policies. Main duties of the job At a wider level the individual will participate in team discussions, weekly teaching sessions, and adhere to local/national protocols to maintain imaging quality and contribute toward departmental accreditation (IQIPs) alongside maintaining their own CPD. The department is research active and contribution to research or clinical trial datasets is part of this role.
