Contract: Permanent, Part-time (22.5 hours per week) Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm
Location: Hybrid to Sheffield or Northampton
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum pro rata, depending on experience

As Health and Safety Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and fostering a positive safety culture across the business. Working closely with teams at all levels, you will develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures to protect employees and maintain high safety standards across our clinics, mobile units, and laboratory.

You will be responsible for conducting risk assessments, audits, and investigations, identifying potential hazards, and driving continuous improvement in health and safety practices. You will also provide training and guidance to employees, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills to work safely and in compliance with regulations.

Main Objectives

1. Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and regulations on behalf of the Group.
2. Promote a positive Health and Safety culture within the Group.
3. Manage all aspects of health and safety matters within the Group including risk assessments, audits, health and safety policies and procedures including fire safety and first aid.
4. Responsible for maintaining, improving, monitoring and evaluation, and where required implementation of new Group policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance, including health and safety development.
5. Development and monitoring of Health and Safety training across the Group.
6. Ensure risk assessments are carried out and recorded in line with all health and safety requirements and a culture of positive risk management is embedded across the Group.
7. Ensure all employees comply with health and safety legislation and all practices and procedures are conducted in a way that meets the relevant requirements for the wellbeing of others.

Specific Responsibilities

1. Manage all safety, health and welfare matters to ensure the Group complies with its statutory obligations.
2. Provide Health and Safety reports to the business.
3. Develop, maintain and co-ordinate health and safety policies and procedures and training across the Group.
4. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, providing any necessary inductions, training and ongoing meetings to assist employees.
5. Preparing method statements and risk assessments for all Group sites including clinic sites, mobile units and a Laboratory.
6. Regular auditing and monitoring of all Group sites including clinics, mobile units, and a Laboratory.
7. Compiling monthly reports on the current status of audit results and identified risks across the Group.
8. Monitor identified potential hazards resulting from Group site audits, including clinics, mobile units and a Laboratory determining ways to reduce risk and documenting via the GRC platform.
9. Ensure all First Aid and Fire Marshall responsibilities are carried out as per policies and procedures.
10. Responsible for investigating accident and near miss reports.
11. Investigate any health and safety issues raised by management or employees.
12. Ensure health and safety policies and procedures are continually reviewed and updated.
13. Provide guidance and reporting for the Health and Safety Committee Meetings disseminating lessons learned, providing minutes, and actions.
14. Produce reports for health and safety statistics and trends and report to Director of Governance, Risk and Compliance and senior management, writing regular articles to communicate to all employee on health and safety issues and changes to regulations.
15. Provide regular health and safety updates to all employees including health and safety issues and changes to regulations.
16. Support the Legal and Compliance Team in all health and safety requirements of Group accreditations (eg, ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, SEQOHS, RISQS, Achilles, CHAS, Health Improvement Scotland and Quality Care Commission).

Requirements for this role

1. Ability to travel across the UK.
2. Proven 3 years+ health and safety management experience.
3. Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma.
4. Qualified in NEBOSH Occupational Health and Safety Certificate (or equivalent).
5. Hold a IOSH Management Safety Certificate (or equivalent) – (preferred).
6. Knowledge of current health and safety legislation.
7. Risk Assessment experience essential.
8. Previous experience in a commercial or corporate environment or relevant transferrable skills (desired but not essential)
9. Organisational skills- good time management and priority setting.
