Sub Contract Manager

Sub Contract Manager role at Leonardo located Basildon, Essex. This position supports Subcontract Management for the Mission Systems area, overseeing full lifecycle of subcontracts from supplier assessment through award, delivery, acceptance, and closure while ensuring internal and external governance and legislation compliance. Responsibilities Act as focal point for procurement activities within demanding cross‑functional Integrated Project Teams (IPTs). Provide procurement governance and leadership across Bid/Project business areas, achieving delivery and margin for associated projects. Lead supplier selection, relationship management and performance for strategic suppliers/partners, owning the material budget. Prepare, negotiate and implement partnership, subcontract, teaming and non‑disclosure agreements, managing export approvals, ITAR, TAA procedures. Manage complex supply chain, support Scope of Work creation and ensure suppliers have a clear baseline and work package. Project manage new and existing supply chains, ensuring required outputs and schedules are fully understood. Manage supply cash flow programme, aligning customer payments and preventing slippage. Own monthly reporting, milestone monitoring and remedial actions for procurement activities. Assess need for sub‑contract, determine potential suppliers, raise NDAs, issue RFI/RFQ, conduct capability visits. Challenge bid team assumptions, ensure procurement fields populated with accurate data for project conformance, lead times, exchange rates, quotation validity, trade compliance restrictions. Coordinate supplier visits, requiring national and international travel. Develop and approve RFQ pack for selected suppliers, including Statement of Work. Assess tender responses, undertake source selection from RFQ. Negotiate sub‑contracts to meet project needs, award sub‑contracts against measurable delivery objectives. Develop procurement plan, support project risk management plan. Approve milestone claims from suppliers when milestones met. Maintain sub‑contract through project life, closing when all milestones and deliveries received. Mediation of supply chain conflicts against contractual objectives. Drive supply chain performance to on‑time delivery objectives and ensure SAP accurately reflects latest position. Qualifications & Experience Experience running major system subcontracts against technical scopes of work. Defining and negotiating terms and conditions. Export and trade compliance. Regular international and national travel. Present complex ideas and positions to senior management, run spreadsheets and written word, track Estimate to Complete (ETC). SAP system knowledge. Defence contracting background. Security Clearance Role subject to pre‑employment screening in line with UK Government BPSS. May require National Security Vetting (NSV), eligibility for SC or DV.
