OverviewUltra PCS Apprentices attend the Technical Training Academy. You will be taken through product assembly courses to prepare for transition into the Operations Team. You will be supported to ensure you receive correct information and guidance through processes and operations focused on manufacture and testing of electronic and mechanical equipment. As an Ultra PCS Apprentice you will carry out supervised six‑month department rotations through training within an operations team focused on manufacture of military and commercial aerospace products in accordance with technical drawings, manufacture instructions, visual and mechanical inspection, and automated test programmes of electronic systems. You will also receive monthly reviews with your line manager to ensure you have the support and guidance required to achieve your objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesFollow health and safety regulations, standards, and guidance.Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards and guidance.Comply with engineering standards and regulations (e.g., BS, ISO, EN).Analyse engineering and manufacturing data and information to support technical outputs.Apply scientific, technical or engineering principles.Apply problem‑solving techniques to solutions for identified technical problems.Organise, plan and prioritise workflow and scheduling of work with stakeholders.Identify, organise and use resources to complete tasks, considering cost, quality, safety, security and environmental impact.Produce job‑specific technical outputs such as engineering drawings, quality control management, computer control programming, business improvement, adverse incident reports, technical investigations, equipment appraisals and specifications.Provide support and guidance for handover of work to stakeholders (e.g., checklists, product or process status, access to supporting documents).Record information, paper‑based or electronic (e.g., energy usage, equipment service records, test results, handover documents, checklists).Follow standard operating procedures.Follow manufacturer's instructions (e.g., safe instructions for use of products, processes and machinery).Apply quality assurance and control principles and practices (e.g., conduct physical checks, take samples, inspections or tests).Apply continuous improvement techniques.Apply team‑working principles.Communicate in writing with others (e.g., stakeholders, colleagues and managers).Communicate verbally with others (e.g., colleagues and stakeholders).Use information and digital technology, complying with GDPR and cyber‑security regulations and policies.Carry out and record learning and development activities.Apply equity, diversity and inclusion procedures.Attend daily team meetings to discuss operational matters.Be allocated tasks to meet engineering and manufacturing deadlines.Qualification RequirementsGCSE English (grade 4–9)GCSE Maths (grade 4–9)GCSE Science (grade 4–9)GCSE in two additional subjects (grade 4–9)Communication skillsAttention to detailOrganisation skillsProblem‑solving skillsNumber skillsAnalytical skillsLogical reasoningTeam workingInitiativeNon‑judgemental attitudePatienceAny relevant qualifications or industry experience (please share)About the CompanyUltra PCS Limited specialises in designing, developing and manufacturing advanced data and power management solutions, particularly for dismounted soldiers and land platforms within military applications, and also provides critical control systems for both military and civil aircraft.
