Our Payments Team Our Payments Data team has over 15 people across Analytics Engineering, Data Analytics, and Data Science. We exist to provide a platform for teams to launch banking products with confidence, enabling revenue and customer growth with a resilient, self‑serve banking platform. What you’ll be working on You’ll work closely with the Product and Engineering teams in an agile product environment, championing the use of data to bring ideas to life through a rigorous analytical approach. Your work will focus on enabling revenue and customer growth. You will manage a team of Data Scientists and Data Analysts, working together with Analytics Engineers to drive product innovation and see the impact of your work in the product changes we make. Be a key leader in building a discipline of exceptional Data Scientists and Analysts to make Monzo world‑class at Payments products and experience Help hire, develop and retain talented Data people Collaborate closely with senior leaders across Monzo to deliver products for our customers Bring data leadership and rigour to product development and build a strategic understanding of the business while structuring complex projects to bring them to life Define the long‑term strategy of the team and create comprehensive roadmaps for all projects within your team Generate insights that can change the direction of our Payments strategy Work and advise on Payments’ global expansion strategy Liaise with Product and Engineering managers to ensure we collect the right data to produce relevant business insights Qualifications Strong strategic leadership experience managing a team of Data Scientists Passionate about using data to improve and inform business decisions Experience working with executive or C‑level peers and managing stakeholders across levels of seniority and disciplines Know what it takes to manage top‑tier Data talent Excited by the opportunity to work autonomously to impact the future of a fast‑growing, ever‑evolving business Strong product knowledge and experience building data products Familiar with a variety of Data Science tools (business intelligence, experimentation, causal inference, machine learning) and coding languages (Python, SQL), and can help others choose the right tool Experience in Payments is a plus, but not required The Interview Process 30‑minute recruiter call 45‑minute initial call Three 1‑hour video calls, including a technical case study Benefits ✈️ We can help you relocate to the UK ✅ We can sponsor visas 📍 Role can be based in our London office or open to distributed working within the UK (with ad hoc meetings in London) ⏰ Flexible working hours 📚 Learning budget of £1,000 a year for books, training courses and conferences ➕ See our full list of benefits here Equal Employment Opportunity We do not discriminate on the basis of any protected group status under any applicable law.
