Brief Description We are seeking a proactive and experienced Route Crime Security Manager to lead efforts that reduce route crime and enhance security across our network. You will work closely with internal teams, law‑enforcement and external partners to develop and implement strategies that keep our railway safe and secure. About You Strong background in security management, law enforcement, or a related field. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills. Ability to analyse complex data and develop actionable strategies. Knowledge of railway operations and relevant security legislation is desirable. Please be aware this role holds a mandatory requirement for the incumbent to hold valid security vetting clearance. Any offer will be conditional on the successful candidate obtaining clearance prior to a start date being agreed. About The Role (External) Step into a role where your expertise shapes the safety of Britain’s railways every single day. As a Route Crime Security Manager you’ll design and deliver innovative security and emergency plans that directly cut route crime and trespass, keeping passengers, colleagues and communities safe. You will lead multi‑agency collaboration with British Transport Police, train operators, government and local authorities, and drive continuous improvement in security strategy and response. Essential Excellent negotiation and influencing skills. Educated to degree level or equivalent experience and competency. Detailed understanding and proven credibility in operational security matters. Good understanding of contingency and emergency planning/management principles. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present complex data simply. Desirable Proven tactical experience in major incident/crisis management. Understanding of security issues as they affect Network Rail’s undertakings. Understanding of railway operational requirements. Postgraduate qualification in emergency/disaster management, security (domestic or international), counter‑terrorism, operational resilience or risk.
