Value for Patients Associate Director

MFT's Value for Patients Associate Director supports the Value for Patients Director with the strategic development of the Trust's "Value based Healthcare" approach, ensuring long‑term financial sustainability while emphasizing patient benefit, harm avoidance and equitable access to treatment. The role collaborates with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to help Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provide safe, clinically effective services for the people of Greater Manchester. Responsibilities Develop and implement MFT's Value for Patients Programme and manage the Value for Patient PMO team. Monitor, challenge and support delivery of programme portfolios that improve productivity, reduce costs and recover income. Engage key stakeholders across all Clinical Groups to plan and deliver programme objectives. Drive operational excellence, influence Trust‑wide transformation and secure optimal service outcomes. Ensure performance and strategic targets are met, contributing to MFT's corporate objectives. Qualifications – Academic / Professional (Essential) Master's degree or equivalent graduate‑calibre experience. Evidence of continuing professional development. In‑depth knowledge of financial management, performance management, information systems and staff management. Qualifications – Academic / Professional (Desirable) Programme management qualifications or certifications. Experience (Essential) Senior experience in a large NHS organisation or consultancy providing healthcare turnaround or PMO services. Leadership of Programme Management Offices or efficiency programmes across NHS Trusts. Experience working with Boards and multiple stakeholders to deliver change. Demonstrated budget management and operational performance improvement under tight financial constraints. Successful leadership of significant organisational change and new models of healthcare delivery. Strong relationships with clinicians and staff in complex organisations. Understanding of healthcare planning and national issues. Experience (Desirable) Developing alliances and partnerships within and across organisations. Knowledge of the local health economy’s strategic direction. Knowledge & Skills (Essential) Highly effective communication, both written and verbal. Excellent presentation skills and ability to influence diverse audiences. Strong interpersonal, negotiation and relationship‑building skills. Sound financial management and business‑centred approach to healthcare provision. Excellent organisational, time‑management and decision‑making skills. Commitment to equality and diversity in the NHS workforce. Project management expertise as manager or sponsor. IT literacy and ability to share vision and engender ownership. Knowledge & Skills (Desirable) Knowledge of the local health economy’s strategic direction. Other Requirements (Essential) Flexibility and ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. Credibility and persuasive communication at all levels. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet tight deadlines. Access to transport. Use of agreed project‑management methodology, analysis of data and spreadsheets.
