This is a hybrid position, and will require travel to our Chelmsford office.As our Lead Underwriter, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our underwriting strategy. You’ll be at the forefront of defining our product propositions, crafting innovative features, and establishing robust underwriting frameworks that align with our strategic goals. Your expertise will influence everything from terms and conditions to validation controls, mapping rules, and the customer experience across all distribution channels.You'll participate in the Global P&C Academy accreditation, enhancing your skills in underwriting, risk engineering, pricing, and claims management while exchanging best practices across the Allianz Group. Furthermore, for pricing-based roles, Allianz Insurance offers a generous study package to enable the actuarial qualification to be obtained through the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in the UK.Our team values continuous learning, you can enjoy free access to top training platforms like DataCamp, Databricks Academy, and LinkedIn Learning. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.About YouAs the Lead Underwriter, you will be responsible for :Assisting the Underwriting manager to develop underwriting strategy in collaboration with the pricing managers.Managing broker relationships, external – broker interactionsUsing technical knowledge and awareness of customer needs to identify opportunities and threats.Monitoring market, technology and data developments, customer feedback and product performance MIMaintain and update product specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance.Refresh rate charts regularly for up-to-date pricing information.Manage product updates to keep offerings current and competitive.Making a cross-product and cross-functional view, identifying opportunities to improve the processActively participating in management forums internally (e.g. Pricing Committee, Risk validation Steering and Product Forum).Analysing relevant product related regulatory bulletins (e.g. from ABI and FCA)Essential SkillsWe don\'t expect you to know everything from day one, but the following will enable you to hit the ground running :Experience in underwriting, product development or relevant technical experienceInterpret MI and analysis effectively, using data to spot risks, opportunities and recommend solutionsProficient in Excel (intermediate) and PowerPointUnderstand underwriting appetite and governanceSkilled in stakeholder and project managementClear communication skills reporting and presentation skillsSpot risks and opportunities, recommend solutionsWhat We Will Offer YouRecognised and rewarded for a job well done, we have a range of flexible benefits for you to choose from- so you can pick a package that’s perfect for you.
