We service a number of international private businesses within shipping, real estate, energy, banking and investments, and our team are based across New York and London.The role of a Head of Technology at BlinxDefining and implementing the company's technology strategy, overseeing infrastructure and systems, leading technology teams, managing budgets, and ensuring technology aligns with business objectives and drives innovation.You will be responsible forTechnology Strategy & Roadmap: Developing and executing a comprehensive technology strategy to supporting and enhance both internal operations and client-facing managed services, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry best practices.Managed Technologies Stack Oversight: Oversee the delivery, support, and optimisation of client environments, including Windows endpoints, connectivity, on-premise networks, Windows and Linux servers, Azure Cloud, and AWS Cloud resources.Service Delivery & Quality: Ensure the effective delivery of IT managed services and consultancy, including proactive monitoring, incident management, and continual service improvement across all supported platforms.Security & Compliance: Work with Head of Cyber Security to ensure design and implementation of technologies meet robust security standards and compliance across multi-cloud and hybrid environments, including data protection, vulnerability management in line with client needs.Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop technology teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence.Vendor & Partner Management: Manage technical relationships with vendors and third-party service providers to maximise value and service quality.Technical Escalation: Act as the senior escalation point for complex technical issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.Budgeting & Resource Management: Develop and manage budgets for technology operations, staffing, and investments.Innovation & R&D: Identify and evaluate emerging technologies to drive competitive advantage and operational efficiency for clients and the firm.Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments and senior stakeholders to implement technology solutions and ensure seamless integration.RequirementsStrategic Vision: Demonstrated ability to develop and communicate a long-term technology vision focused on realising incremental value for client managed services and consultancy.Multi-Platform Expertise: Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux server administration, endpoint management, and troubleshooting.Cloud Proficiency: Deep understanding of Azure and AWS architectures, migration strategies, and operational best practices.ITIL/Service Management: Knowledge of ITIL or similar service management frameworks; certification preferred.Security Acumen: Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR), and practical experience implementing security controls in hybrid environments.Automation & Scripting: Experience with automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Terraform, Ansible) for infrastructure management.Leadership & Communication: Proven ability to lead and motivate technical teams, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.Problem-Solving: Ability to identify technological challenges and devise effective solutions in complex, multi-client environments.Budget Management: Experience in creating and controlling departmental budgets.More on the less technical side around capabilities that Blinx is looking for -Leadership & EQ CapabilityActs with integrity and is a natural exemplar of the Blinx values and behavioursSelf-aware and skilled at managing impact on othersAdept at managing multiple competing and changing priorities and refocussing time appropriatelyAble to understand and translate requirements from ambiguity into tangible scope to support planning and direction for the teamActively aware of the morale of the team and works constructively to raise it, ensuring a safe and respectful space where team members can be themselves, take appropriate risks and be honestProven track record of successfully working with a multi-disciplinary team adept at sharing knowledge and experience across the team in support of operational excellenceChampion of continuous improvement, skilled at leading teams through systematic, pragmatic changeRecognises the power of relationships in ensuring success and is able to build meaningful relationships with team, peers, key stakeholders and third parties.Technical CapabilityCloud Operations: Ability to architect, deploy, and manage resources in Azure and AWS, including hybrid integrations and cloud security.Endpoint Management: Proficiency in understanding the management of Windows endpoints (Intune).Server Administration: Advanced skills in understanding Windows Server (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP) and Linux (systemd, networking, security).Monitoring & Incident Response: Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch) and incident response processes.Disaster Recovery & Backup: Knowledge of backup solutions and disaster recovery planning for both on-premise and cloud environments.Agile Delivery: Ability to deliver quickly via agile methodology, with a logical and analytical approach to problem‑solving.External Orientation: Awareness of technology trends and competitor solutions to support ongoing optimisation of the technology strategy.Experience and qualificationsManaged Services Background: Prior experience in an IT managed services provider or consultancy, supporting diverse client environments.Project Delivery: Proven track record delivering projects involving cloud migration, hybrid infrastructure, and endpoint modernisation.Relevant Certifications across key disciplines: Certified or commensurate evidence of technical skills, e.g. Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC), ITIL Foundation.Security Qualifications: Security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+) are an advantage.Stakeholder Management: Ability to form strong working relationships with stakeholders and present ideas in user‑friendly language.Business Transformation: Capability to collaborate in and manage business transformational activities.Methodology Experience: Strong Waterfall and Agile methodology experience.Communication Skills: Excellent written/verbal communication skills;
