This apprenticeship will be provided with hands‑on experience and expert training in preparing, applying various finishes and specialist finishes for items made and components of larger projects.As a Furniture Finishing Apprentice, you will learn the specialist skills involved in preparing, setting up equipment, and finishing a wide range of component materials including bespoke projects requiring a high quality finish. You’ll work alongside experienced finishers learning how to complete each stage required to the highest of quality standards.Start Date: ASAPKey ResponsibilitiesCover all areas of preparing and treating wood and manufactured boards to give the desired finish as specified.Sand and prepare each stage as required to achieve the required finish.Apply primer and finish coats, ensuring quality meets the employer’s standards.Learn about all relevant health and safety requirements, including HSWA, COSHH, etc.Learn about setting out personal standards to ensure quality is measured and assessed accurately and be accountable for the final quality of the items passed as correct.Use paint, lacquer, and top coat.Work with an experienced mentor in the spray shop and learn how to become part of a small team meeting targets.Skills & RequirementsGood timekeeping.Work ethic.Able to solve and overcome problems.A keen interest in learning how to finish in a practical workplace.Good attention to detail and a willingness to learn.A positive attitude and commitment to completing the apprenticeship.Good communication skills.Ability to follow instructions and work independently and as part of a team.No experience is needed – full training will be provided through your apprenticeship provider and day‑to‑day support from the employer and WEBS.What We OfferA friendly and supportive working and learning environment, where you’ll grow technically and personally.Mentorship and supervision from experienced finishers and trade professionals.Full training and support towards a recognised Apprenticeship Standard in Furniture Finisher Level 2 – ST0977.On‑the‑job learning from experienced industry professionals with a trusted name in the industry.A pathway to a full‑time career with the opportunity to stay on post‑apprenticeship.Training DetailsDuring your Standard Level 2 Furniture Finisher apprenticeship programme you will receive training both off and on the job. You will be trained at the employer within the workplace and also at WEBS Training, Beeston Nottingham. In our purpose‑built finishing area, in partnership with Kortec, on a block basis for a week at a time every 10 weeks, costs are covered by the employer if accommodation and/or travel is required.Training will be provided in all areas of furniture finishing to ensure you can create efficient and quality components using both traditional and modern techniques and materials to produce aesthetically pleasing and fit‑for‑purpose finishes.If you have already achieved GCSE maths and English at Grade 4/C or above or have equivalent qualification you will be exempt from undertaking Functional Skills, however English and maths support will be provided for all apprentices throughout the length of their programme.Career Progression and OpportunitiesThis role offers opportunities to increased responsibilities.QualificationsGCSE or equivalent in English (Grade C/4) – desirable.GCSE or equivalent in Maths (Grade C/4) – desirable.About the EmployerHadley are the experts in bespoke joinery and specialist fit‑out, creating high‑quality environments for museums and leisure.
