We’re looking for an experienced Lead Systems Engineer to take a central technical role in a major UK flight demonstration mission. This is an opportunity to shape spacecraft architecture, drive system-level decisions, and lead multidisciplinary engineering efforts within a dynamic and fast-growing space environment. What You’ll Be Doing Act as the primary technical lead for an upcoming flight demonstration mission. Define spacecraft system architecture and coordinate subsystem and supplier interfaces. Lead system modelling, requirements management, technical trades, and design budgets. Produce mission-level verification plans, FMECA/FDIR, and operational procedures. Support integration, readiness reviews, mission operations planning, and end-of-life strategies. Contribute to team leadership, with line management opportunities depending on experience. What We’re Looking For 7+ years’ experience across the full spacecraft lifecycle (concept → AIT → launch → operations). Strong background in one or more areas: spacecraft systems, avionics, sensors/optics, flight software, orbital mechanics, structures, mechanisms, propulsion, or operations. Experience creating and executing V&V plans and working with customers on requirements. Nice to Have Startup or fast-paced project experience Work on multinational or European missions Exposure to in-orbit servicing or diverse mission types Understanding of supply chains and differing programme scales We encourage applications even if you don’t meet every requirement.
