Interpreters will travel to the clients’ location to provide interpreting services face-to-face.Summary Of PositionThe face-to-face Interpreter is responsible for traveling to client sites by appointment, and renders the meaning of conversations in the consecutive mode of interpretation between the target language and English speakers. The interpreter processes information quickly and concisely, recognizes sensitive cultural differences and is professional and courteous at all times. The interpreter uses appropriate terminology and understands common industry procedures and practices. Interpreting assignments may be technical or non-technical in the following fields: healthcare, government services and education.Location:Assignments will take place at the client locations throughout North West, UK.Major ResponsibilitiesThe interpreter must:Render correct concepts and meanings according to the conventions of established interpretation protocolProvide clear and accurate renditions with no additions or omissionsEmploy good customer service and clear enunciation, pronunciation, pleasant and professional voice as well as polite forms of expressionFollow client’s instructions, manage the flow of the communication and avoid taking over the communication, as well as avoid interaction with the Limited English proficiency speaker without client's permissionUnderstand protocol and terminology in the healthcare industryMaintain a professional demeanor throughout the assignment at all timesHave access to the Internet or work related electronic communicationProvide clarification and cultural brokering using excellent judgment and skillDemonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environmentEducational Level: (preferred)Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Languages, Translation, Interpretation, Philology, Linguistics or related fieldsPh.D. or Doctoral in Languages, Philology, Linguistic or related fieldsNRPSI (National Register of Public Service Interpreters)DPSI (Diploma of Public Service Interpreting)DPI (Diploma Police Interpreting)Work ExperienceWritten translation and/or interpretationLocalization, bilingual publishing, media organizations, schools and/or similar bilingual settingsLiving and/or studying in a bilingual environmentOne year of work experience in industries for which LanguageLine Solutions provides interpretation (preferred)Essential RequirementsResident of the UK for 3+ years (NPPV3 vetting requirements)OPEN UNTIL FILLED --- EEO/AAEqual Opportunity Employer.
