Behaviour Support Assistant – SEMH Primary School (Bury Area) Location: Bury, Greater ManchesterSalary: Competitive and based on experienceContract: Full-time, Term-time only Teaching Personnel is seeking a patient and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH primary school in the Bury area. This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and thrive in a positive environment. You will be supporting children with additional needs such as Challenging behaviour, Depression, anxiety, anxiety-based school avoidance, oppositional defiance disorder and trauma. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs, focusing on emotional regulation and engagement. Implement effective behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and reduce challenging incidents. Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities that meet individual needs. Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage confidence and independence. Support pupils in managing challenging behaviour calmly and professionally. Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour, reporting to the class teacher and SENCO. Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure consistent support. Requirements: Previous experience working with SEMH pupils or in a challenging behaviour setting (school or care environment preferred). Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (essential). Two employment references covering the last 24 months (essential). Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
