Marple Medical Practice arelooking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated Healthcare Assistant(HCA) to join our multi-disciplinary team.The Healthcare Assistant willwork as part of the practice clinical team to provide high quality,person-centred care to patients. Therole involves supporting GPs, Practice Nurses, and other clinicians in thedelivery of safe and effective healthcare services, including clinical duties,administrative support and health promotion activies. NHS Pension, membership of Simply HealthLevel 1 scheme and opportunity for ongoing professional development andtraining is offered to the successful candidate.Main duties of the jobTosupport the practice nursing and administrative teams in the delivery ofclinical and administrative services, working as part of the practicemulti-disciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to theentitled patient population.The Healthcare Assistant will deliver and assistclinical staff in the provision of treatment, monitoring long term conditions, preventative care, healthpromotion and patient education. .About usOur team comprises 2 GPPartners and 2 salaried GPs, supported by a multidisciplinary teamincluding 2 Practice Nurses, 2 HCAs, a First Contact Practitioner, and anAdvanced Clinical Practitioner, alongside skilled administrative staff.We recognise theimportant of a strong cohesive team and hold sociable coffee and lunchbreaks, regular whole team and clinical team practice meetings and regulardedicated education sessions together with team building activities andsocial events to strengthen our whole team and promote a positive workculture.Located in largefriendly village of Marple, South Stockport, we serve a patient list ofapproximately 7,000.We are part of theStockport SES PCN, working closely with PCN colleagues and ARRS staff toenhance capacity and maintain high standards of patient care.As a training practice,we offer placements to medical students and GP trainees at various stagesof their careers, fostering valuable learning experiences.Our practice is rated Goodby the Care Quality Commission (CQC).Job responsibilitiesThis role is 24 hours per week to be worked across 3 days:Monday8.30am 5.00pmTuesday8.30am 5.00pmThursday(alternate weeks)8.30am5.00pm /12noon 8.00pmAlso to participate in extended access Saturdayclinics a minimum 3 times a year.Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the Healthcare Assistant. Theremay be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will bedependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:Undertake new patient health checks& other health screening.Support the Practice with healthpromotion programmesCarry out baseline observations suchas pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature and pulse rate, height &weight, BMI and recording findings accuratelyGathering lifestyle data from patientsLong term condition reviews (asappropriate) including diabetic foot examinationsAct as a chaperone as requiredBlood tests/phlebotomyVaccinations including flu,pneumococcal and shingles vaccinesCarry out ECGsUrinalysis and preparation ofspecimensProvide support during minor surgical operations as requiredProvide support during gynaecologicalprocedures for coil and implant clinicsEnsure all clinical rooms areadequately stocked and prepared for each sessionEnsure fridges are cleaned routinelyin accordance with extant guidanceEnsure clinical waste is removed fromclinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the organisationsIPC policyDeliveropportunistic patient education and promotion of health and well-beingIn addition to the primary responsibilities,the Healthcare Assistant may be requested to:Participate in practice audit asdirected by the audit leadParticipate in local initiatives toenhance service delivery and patient careSupport and participate in sharedlearning within the organisationComplete opening and closingprocedures in accordance with the duty rotaPerson SpecificationExperienceExperience of working with the general publicExperience of working within a healthcare settingExperience of working in a primary care settingQualificationsHealthcare qualification (level 3 or 4) or working towards gaining equivalent level.Previous completion of the HCA Care Certificate - as detailed within GP Mythbuster No 57 - HCAs in General PracticeCertification in vaccination and immunisationClinical knowledge and skillsAbility to record accurate clinical notesClear, polite telephone mannerEffective time management skills (planning and organising)Ability to work as a team member and autonomouslyGood interpersonal skillsExperience of carrying out ECGsExperience of carrying out new patient medicalsWound care/removal of sutures and staplesExperience of EMIS Web clinical systemDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
