About Global Marine Group Is a leading independent provider of subsea fibre optic connectivity solutions offering a broad range of services including consultancy, subsea cable engineering, installation and maintenance, covering the lifespan of a subsea fibre optic cable system which is delivered to customers worldwide. About the role As an IT Apprentice you will learn and apply technical skills to service end-user IT requests. You will work in a global network environment, gaining knowledge of our IT solutions and completing any required coursework exams. This role forms a key part of our succession planning strategy as we continue to grow and strengthen our IT team to keep pace with the rapid changing demands of the IT world. Key Deliverables Act as the first point of contact for IT support by answering calls, logging incidents, and routine tickets to appropriate support teams. Install, maintain, and provide technical support for end-user client devices, ensuring optimal performance and user satisfaction. Create, update, and manage service tickets in line with company processes and service-level expectations. Working towards being able to troubleshoot and resolve basic technical issues on your own initiative. Escalate complex problems to second, third-line and or management when required. Collaborate closely with your peers, colleagues and wider IT team to ensure timely and effective resolution of customer issues. Deliver remote support to internal personnel, vessels, business units, and global site locations. Assist in the ongoing monitoring and support of the Global Marine estate with guidance, contributing to the smooth operation of worldwide marine IT infrastructure. Take part in team building exercises when required. Requirements Applicants should have successfully completed A Level(s) or an equivalent college qualification (no specific subject requirements). GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above. Good communication skills and relationship‑building ability. Good analytical and active listening abilities. A genuine enthusiasm for learning and continuous personal development. A logical, methodical approach to problem solving. Openness to feedback and constructive guidance. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good organisational and time management skills. Must be within reasonable commuting distance to the office. Full driving licence held or currently working towards obtaining one (ideal). Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (ideal). Outgoing and confident personality (ideal). Working Hours & Location This role will be based at our Chelmsford office, working Monday to Thursday on site, with Fridays from home. Application Process The apprenticeship provider is QA.
