Skin Integrity Specialist Sister The closing date is 14 December 2025 To provide specialist advice and education to patients, carers and all health care professionals on all aspects of skin integrity throughout the Trust. To ensure the maintenance and development of clinical excellence in skin integrity by informing and utilising the Trust's Skin Integrity team's policies, strategies, audit processes, education and research agenda. Main duties of the job To deliver individualised patient care based on evidence best practice. To create a highly visible profile throughout the Trust. To act as an accountable role model through the provision of competent practice. To act as a patient/staff advocate through the application of ethical, legal and professional knowledge and skills. To utilise an approach which fosters research appreciation and critical awareness, whilst demonstrating the application of evidence based practice. To contribute to the evaluation of the appropriate use of Skin Integrity products in order to facilitate the cost‑effective selection of these products in the provision of care. To provide cover for Skin Integrity team members as determined by the Lead Nurse – Skin Integrity. To actively manage a patient caseload using a full range of clinical decision making and management plans for patients with compromised Skin Integrity issues. To demonstrate an awareness of the complex needs of different client groups when imparting or receiving sensitive, complex or contentious information. Person Specification Qualifications & Training Minimum of 2 years' experience at Band 5 NMC Registered Nurse Post Registration qualifications in Skin Integrity/Leg Ulceration/Complex wounds Master's degree in relevant subject Personal Attributes & Skills Ability to work as an autonomous practitioner accountable for own actions Excellent verbal and written communication skills Creative and visionary Team player Ability to motivate and negotiate with others Good insight and awareness of key issues in current national skin integrity developments and initiatives Analytical and numerate Information management and basic technology skills Accessible and visible to team/clinical areas Adaptable and responsive to service changes, whilst maintaining a positive attitude Ability to work under own initiative Ability to work in a challenging environment and meet demanding deadlines Good interpersonal skills Enthusiastic and innovative Personally committed to the promotion of equality and opportunity Ability to develop alliances and partnerships Able to build professional and personal credibility to gain support and to express ideas persuasively within a range of settings and environments Knowledge & Experience Experience working within skin integrity, tissue viability, wound care services. Use of specialist equipment e.g. Doppler, pressure relieving equipment, NPWT, computers Knowledge and experience in teaching theory and practical skills. Demonstrate a broad range of clinical experience Ability to undertake full clinical assessments of patients, including those with multiple pathology and complex health and social needs Has awareness of the Doncaster Wound Care Alliance Experience of contributing to research and undertaking clinical audit and evaluation Experience of contributing to policy development and review Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
