Northumberland County Council Adult Social Care are looking for an experienced therapist or nurse who has knowledge, experience and an interest in moving and handling and posture care. Key Responsibilities Provide support to Northumberland County Council (NCC) therapy services with the provision of a specialised service in moving and handling and posture care. Be able to undertake highly complex assessments in any place client spends time; to identify needs, plan, implement and evaluate interventions taking into consideration current legislation to reduce the risk of any musculoskeletal disorders. Be a highly skilled resource to NCC therapy staff and members of a client's MDT. Ability to develop and deliver a range of specialist training programmes on the scope of moving and handling and posture care. Lead on competency‑based specialist training, advice and support regarding moving and handling and posture care. Observe and evaluate the competency of all staff while completing specialist training programmes in the training environment and in the community when supporting with individual client cases to ensure appropriate use of information provided. The post is a Countywide post and will be supporting and training Occupational Therapists and Therapy support staff from Occupational Therapy services with complex moving and handling and posture care cases. As part of Northumberland Adult Social Care, we work with adults (18+) who have a functional deficit caused by aging, physical disability, mental health or learning disability. The interventions and advice needed are therefore wide ranging. Adult social care has offices across the County. Due to the position being a Countywide post the base for the post holder will be determined on appointment. Employment Details The post is full time, permanent, and the salary is Northumberland County Council Band 8 £39,862 - £44,075. Key Requirements A health or social care qualification to degree level (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy or Nursing. Evidence of teaching and/or presentation skills. Valid registration with HCPC, RCN, MNC or equivalent. Evidence of completion of moving and handling training. Experience of on‑the‑job supervision of staff and undertaking performance development for staff where required. High level of interest in/and experience of working in moving and handling and posture care. Extensive experience working with clients and carers/users using moving and handling equipment. Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance with reference to moving and handling. Extensive knowledge of moving and handling and posture care equipment and techniques. Extensive knowledge of general risk assessment process. The post holder must meet the travel requirements of the post to cover the geographical area of Northumberland. Therefore it is an essential requirement that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner or able to use a car for work purposes.
