Wiggington Cottage is looking to recruit a Support Worker to join their team. This is a full time role. Hours: 36 hours per week Day Shifts: 07:00 - 19:00 on a rotating shift pattern to include working every other weekend. £12.60 per hour Wiggington Cottage is located in the heart of the beautiful village of Wiggington, in Tamworth, Staffordshire. Our specialist service provides residential support for eight people with a primary diagnosis of Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS). Our home is on a quiet street, near the small village. Our team are dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of the people we support, helping them to achieve positive outcomes. We want to help each person we care for to have a healthy, happy, and independent life, within a safe and welcoming home. It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However whilst this is valuable, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to people’s lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support. What you'll be doing You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents' wellbeing. Your positive attitude and passion for providing high quality care and support will be your key strengths, but you'll also have a friendly, patient and positive approach to work. As a Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents. You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives. Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes Assisting with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals Assistance and support to attend medical appointments Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth What you'll bring to the role Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. The ideal candidate: Qualifications and Skills Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature Empathy, understanding and patience Ability to work on your own and as part of a team Ability to understand and follow policies and procedure The ability to anticipate and respond to challenges Competent in verbal and written English A healthcare qualification is desirable, but not essential To be considered for this role, we require you to have the right to work in the UK.
