We lead and monitor health system safety by embedding and maturing NSW Health safety system model and strategically partnering with health entities and consumers to foster safe care. The CEC has a system wide leadership role in safety and improvement, with a focus on learning. It provides independent guidance and advice on clinical safety, and responds rapidly when system-wide issues arise. About the Opportunity This position manages the development, implementation, evaluation and refinement of activities and initiatives to improve medicine and medical device safety across NSW. This position supports the Therapeutic Safety unit in delivery of either the NSW Formulary Committee Secretariat duties, medicine-related quality improvement initiatives or medicine and/or medical device related critical response management. This position is also responsible for providing expert input into Clinical Excellence Commission (CEC) initiatives and any issues referred to the CEC for comment when required. The position will take a role in the Therapeutics Safety Business Unit in contributing to the Medicine and Medical Device Program. It will report to a Senior Clinical Lead within the team and is ultimately responsible to the Director, Therapeutics Safety. Selection Criteria Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent with experience, knowledge and demonstrated achievements that enable a sophisticated understanding of medicines and/or medical devices. Extensive knowledge of medicines and/or medical device use processes within NSW public hospitals and experience, skills and knowledge relevant to medicines and/or medical device safety. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in applying quality improvement methodologies and tools. Demonstrated analytical skills, with the capacity to undertake qualitative and quantitative analysis of clinical data; demonstrated ability conducting literature reviews and applying research; preparing and presenting analysis and reports; and managing program risks and implications. Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale healthcare quality improvement initiatives fostering a systematic collaborative approach to improving patient outcomes, including the management of multiple and concurrent initiatives with conflicting milestones and deadlines. Highly developed interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience developing effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders including liaising with and influencing stakeholders to adopt and implement continuous improvement initiatives. High level verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience drafting complex written documents such as reports, briefs and advice for senior managers. Need more information?
