The Cell line Innovation Team supports in-house Cell Line Engineering by evaluating new technologies and cell line backgrounds to improve editing activities and success rates, undertaking complex editing projects to produce cell lines for antibody validation and commercial customers, and performing technical troubleshooting.
The Senior Scientist – Cell line Innovation reports to the Director of Cell Engineering and Cell Sciences and is part of the Cell Line Innovation Team located in Cambridge, UK and will be an on-site role. At Abcam, our vision is to be the most influential life sciences company for researchers worldwide.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:- Lead a small team of scientists in Cell Line Innovation and contribute to the future cell engineering strategy.
- Explore innovative ideas to improve the cell line engineering process including the use of state-of-the-art automation equipment, novel technologies, and more.
- Work closely with cross-functional groups within & outside of R&D to deliver solutions or improvements in cell-based antibody validation.
- Provide research expertise and guidance, leading a culture of continuous improvement leveraging Danaher Business Systems and setting expectations for high performance across the organization.
- A PhD in Life sciences with at least 10 years of laboratory experience, ideally in industry.
- In-depth knowledge of cell line engineering using CRISPR/Cas Technologies, including guide and donor design.
- A strong Cell Biology and Molecular Biology skillset.
- Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills; including excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and enjoys teamwork.
- Antibody development workflows.
- Laboratory automation equipment and high-throughput cell engineering workflows.
- Line management and/or project management.
