Main duties of the job We operate a 24/7 Theatre Recovery service with 85 registered staff across 6 recovery areas covering multiple specialities. Our recovery team currently has around 85 members of registered staff from varying international backgrounds. We have 45 beds and work across 6 recovery areas covering multiple specialities. The successful candidate will be expected to cover a range of shifts inclusive of early/middle/lates/twilight and night shifts over 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Job responsibilities WHAT YOU'LL DO Provide outstanding care to adults and children and their families in the post‑operative phase across a range of specialities. Undertake A‑E assessments, perform emergency airway interventions and manage acute deterioration of a variety of causes. Support learners throughout the department and engage with the education team regarding continual professional development. Adhere to all trust policies. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Candidates can be either Adult or Paediatric Registered Nurses or RODPs. Understanding of personal accountability. Practice and promotes the use of evidence‑based practice. Person Specification Qualifications, knowledge and experience Registered nurse on relevant part of the register. Degree or equivalent experience. Ability to assist in carrying out the transfer of a patient through the intraoperative phase of perioperative care, giving concise, accurate handover. Demonstrate knowledge of the skills required to support learners in practice and create a positive learning environment. Practice and promotes the use of evidence‑based practice. Knowledge of current issues within acute health service. Understanding of personal accountability. Aptitude for caring for the anaesthetised and/or acutely unwell patient. Experience of teaching and supporting learners in practice. Experience of working within relevant care setting. Specialist theatre work‑based learning course, or mentorship course, post‑qualification. Interest in research to promote good practice.
