Typical activities expected to be performed by a Service/Repair Engineer include developing and validating overhaul methods for aero engines, defining work scope, optimizing maintenance activities, analyzing in-service issues, identifying potential repair procedures, standardizing shop practices, and defining best practices to prevent material handling damage. Reporting and recommendations on findings are expected as part of the role. Responsibilities Construct new methods and procedures for overhaul of aero engines. Validate procedural steps in the engine manual by observing the shop implementation of the procedures. Work scope definition. Optimization of maintenance activities. In-Service Issue Analysis (Operational/ Maintenance). Identification of potential repair procedures. Standardisation of work practices in shop. Define Best Practices to prevent material handling damage. Reporting of various findings and recommendations. Education and Experience B.E. (Mech/ Aero) / AME (Mech). Minimum 4 years, post-qualification, hands-on experience on aeroengines in an MRO, Airlines/Aerospace & Defence and related service organisation. Essential Skills A proactive, energetic individual with extensive knowledge of gas turbine aeroengines, engine components and their function during engine operation. Working knowledge of various engine systems e.g. oil, fuel, air, bleed etc. Understanding of failure/deterioration mechanisms and related distress or failures. Troubleshooting of failures. Hands-on experience in maintenance, repair/service of aeroengines. Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques and various inspection methods. Knowledge of various repair techniques and manufacturing techniques applicable to component repair. Part drawing reading and GD&T concepts. Required Skills Good hands-on experience in using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and similar tools). Good understanding of engine manuals and their layout. Desired Skills Knowledge of key aircraft systems. Understanding of delivery excellence and quality control systems. Knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 and Six Sigma tools is an added advantage. Able to make quick decisions and take calculated risks. Promote a culture of accountability, change championship, teamwork and customer focus.
