The opportunity:

This opportunity is for a Process Engineer to work as part of the Circuit Card Assembly (PCBA) manufacturing business unit with a focus on the manufacture of our products. The business unit is rapidly growing to achieve the large backlog of orders over the next 5-10 years, with production output more than tripling.

You will work in the process engineering team, closely with test, manufacturing, and quality engineers while building strong relationships with stakeholders including the operations team, design support team, and Calibration & Maintenance team.

Role responsibilities:

  • The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for various technical aspects of PCBA, which will involve working on continuous improvement activities, representing the manufacturing team at various technical forums, and solving technical problems.
  • The opportunity also allows an individual to grow their knowledge within manufacturing as part of development into future opportunities. • Supporting the manufacturing area in its growth and rate increase
    • Supporting CI activities
    • Support the Non-Conformance Process
    • Interface with the design authority during the product prototype/development phase to ensure optimised Design for Manufacture (DfM), or in the production phase for change implementation including supporting the NPI team in creating design rules for manufacturability of PCBAs
    • Ensure processes and equipment contribute to a safe working environment following both company processes and legal obligations.
    • Develop and maintain manufacturing methods, processes, and equipment to provide a robust and repeatable manufacturing system.
    • Resolve issues and queries with the operations team on the shop floor
    • Perform and review PFMEAs
    • Develop tooling to aid the manufacturing process
    • Create and modify machine programmes for the manufacture or inspection of PCBAs

What we're looking for from you:

  • Experience in Circuit Card Manufacturing or Design
  • Knowledge of PCBA Processes and Technologies
  • Be highly motivated and enthusiastic to support a high performing team
  • Must demonstrate a proactive approach to process improvements

  • Knowledge of Electro Static Discharge and its prevention would be beneficial

Qualifications:

  • Formal technical Engineering/Craft Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3/TR23/TR21

AND

  • Formal further education certificate to HND or equivalent in a relevant subject

Alternatively:

  • BEng/BSc in relevant Engineering/Technical Degree
