The Pharmacy department is a friendly, progressive, and expanding unit dedicated to providing the highest standards of pharmaceutical care and service in this internationally renowned teaching hospital.Job overview and dutiesWe are looking for a highly motivated Senior Band 7 Pharmacist to join our pharmacy team. The post-holder will deliver and support the clinical pharmacy services in a variety of specialties in the pharmacy department on a rotational basis. The rotation will involve completing a comprehensive training programme in areas including Clinical Governance, Patient Services, Medicines Advisory, Clinical Services/E+T, HIV, Cardiology, Renal, Hepatology/gastroenterology/nutrition, Surgery, ITU, Medicine, Antimicrobials, Planned Investigation and Treatment Unit, formulary, Haematology/Oncology and Commissioning with the aim of enhancing knowledge and skills and progression towards a more senior role. You will have exposure to directorate work such as DTC evaluations, high-cost drug assessments, and audits. A clinical commitment will be provided during all rotations. Rotations are based at Royal Free with cross-site working at Barnet or Chase Farm Hospitals when required.The post-holder will be expected to carry out the following in line with the Trust World Class values:Work as a clinical pharmacist to ensure the safe, and cost-efficient use of medicinesWork as part of the multidisciplinary team to enhance patient careParticipate in drug usage reviews, audits and cost efficiency programmesLine manage and support more junior pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in the teamMain duties of the jobWe are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacists who are looking for the next challenge. You will ideally have completed or nearly completed your FS1 (or equivalent) and want to further develop your managerial and clinical skills. Training and support will be given in all rotations to ensure you meet the requirements for FS2.The post-holder will contribute to the safe, clinically effective and cost-efficient use of medicines to optimise patient care. Responsibilities include:Delivery of a high quality ward-based pharmacy service including drug supply, review of highly complex medication regimens, medicine reconciliation and discharge planningActive participation on consultant rounds and multidisciplinary team meetingsMaking evidence-based decisions, in partnership with patients and professionals within specialties to improve outcomesIdentifying the risks of medicines use within the specialties and assist in implementing strategies to minimise themEnsure compliance with local and national policies such as medicines policy and NICE guidelinesParticipate in specialist pharmacy clinics in certain clinical areas.You will also be expected to participate in the out of hours, weekend and bank holiday service including responsibility for the securing of the department.
