Job Title Staff Nurse, Women’s Health Unit – Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Location Chesterfield Royal Hospital, Calow, Chesterfield, S44 5BL About the Unit The Women’s Health Unit at Chesterfield Royal Hospital offers a comprehensive range of care including gynaecology day case procedures, termination of pregnancy, early pregnancy loss and assessment, emergency gynaecology assessment, and out‑patient services such as Colposcopy, Hysteroscopy, Urodynamics and Novasure treatments. The postholder will support a busy 7am‑10pm shift pattern that reflects the diverse care needs of the service. Key Responsibilities Undertake total care of allocated patients, including admissions, discharges, observations, clinical procedures, pre‑ and post‑operative care and advice on health promotion to patients and their relatives. Work within the early pregnancy assessment clinic, assessing patients with early pregnancy complications and providing care for termination of pregnancy. Ensure contemporaneous, accurate record keeping (both written and electronic) related to patient care. Contribute to a safe environment for patients, staff and the public by reporting accidents and untoward incidents to the Ward Leader. Engage in audit and research activities. Apply safeguarding referral processes, the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Assessment. Maintain close, effective communication with the multi‑professional team, reporting changes in patient condition promptly. Establish effective communication with patients and relatives, keeping them informed of their condition, progress and after‑care arrangements. Adhere to Nursing Policies, Procedures and Guidelines, and to the protocols for drug custody, checking and administration. Ensure liaison with support services in primary and secondary care to provide continuity of care post‑discharge. Undertake additional duties as requested by the Ward Leader. Person Specification Essential Qualifications and Experience Registered as a 1st Level RGN and NMC, holding a current pin. Experience in an acute setting. Basic gynaecology, surgical and early pregnancy experience. Understand the principles of excellent nursing care. Demonstrated interest and awareness of issues in women’s health. Evidence of self‑development within current role. Patient‑centred approach in all aspects. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to form excellent interpersonal relationships. Venepuncture and cannulation competency. Desirable Qualifications and Experience Supervisor/assessor qualification. Evidence of post‑registration development. Experience or learning relevant to this post. Extensive gynaecological, surgical and early pregnancy experience. Administration of vaginal abortificants. Ability to administer Methotrexate.
