An opportunity has arisen for a Transport Planner to join the logistics team at our Southampton head office site.Established in 1894, Williams Shipping is a family-run marine and logistics business with over 170 employees working in 5 different sites. The logistics arm of the business specialises in transporting abnormal, out of gauge & heavy loads, as well as general haulage, operating across the UK and into Europe.Working within a small team, you will be planning for a fleet of 25 vehicles, ensuring a consistent high quality service and working to our mantra of “where there’s a will, there’s a way”.Transport Planner ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Operations ManagerUtilising the transport management software to ensure that the scheduling of vehiclesis carried out effectively and efficiently to achieve the optimum transport planPlan to ensure that customer service criteria requirements are met at all timesEnsure that the plan is clearly communicated to all necessary parties.Liaise closely with other departments including the Warehouse and Cargo team.RequirementsExperience of working in or alongside a Transport Planning TeamExperience within a logistics working environmentAble to work under pressure in a time critical environmentAbility to communicate at all levels.Analytical skillsComputer literate including Microsoft OfficeGood geographical knowledge of UK.Reliable, enthusiastic and flexible in approachExperience of the shipping industry and VBS system would be advantageousWorking knowledge of transport management IT systems would beadvantageous although full training will be givenSalary & BenefitsNegotiable depending on experience45 hours / weekOn call / weekend cover on a rota basis22 days annual leave + statutory Bank HolidaysGroup Pension SchemeLife Assurance 2 x salary after successful completion of probationHealth Cash Plan after successful completion of probationCycle to work schemeRefer a Friend Introductory Bonus #J-18808-Ljbffr
