The role will be imperative as the transition to hybrid working for the Coding team increases in the near future. The purpose of the role is to plan and undertake a rolling audit schedule in order to assure the quality of the coded data within the Coding department. The role will also require working closely with senior colleagues within Clinical Coding and the wider Digital Transformation Team to identify clinical coding audit needs and deliver bespoke audit feedback. Clinical Coding auditing is fundamental in underpinning a well‑trained efficient Coding team. This in turn helps the Trust deliver against its overall goal of becoming the ‘safest Trust in England, outstanding in all that we do’. The income of the Trust is reliant on accurate and timely coded data. This information is also used for resource management, clinical research, clinical audit, and healthcare contracting, and service provision both locally and nationally. Main duties of the job We are looking for a highly experienced Accredited Clinical Coding Auditor who is ready to join our busy and highly skilled Clinical Coding Team. The main duties will include delivering NHSE annual nationally mandated Data Security Protection Toolkit audit. The role will also require the post holder to deliver bespoke audit feedback on a number of Coding topics ensuring the Coding department is coding within national standards. As well as highlighting any coding issues through Coding, audit. The post holder is responsible for the development and implementation of a robust audit programme to ensure timely and the highest quality coded data across the Trust. Along with being an experienced auditor listed below are some of the other key skills that are essential. Person specification Qualifications & Training Currently working in an audit function and an Approved Clinical Coding Auditor, registered with NHS England Experience of planning and delivering clinical coding audit programmes Knowledge & Experience Able to write professional reports and to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences (individuals or groups) in in different formats depending on the audience including delivering presentations to both small and large audiences Personal Attributes and Skills Excellent communication skills, able to provide complex results to a wide range of audiences in an easily understood format Use analytical and judgement skills to identify potential clinical coding errors within the clinical coded data using local and national benchmarking tools. Ability to work on own initiative, prioritise workload and to make decisions without reference to Clinical Coding Manager and Assistant Clinical Coding Manager. Good organisational skills, (structured and ad‑hoc) to achieve departmental deadlines.
