Cleaning Operative – Gov Facility Services Ltd (GFSL) Location: HMP Lewes, UK Salary: £25,566.64 per annum Contract: Full time, permanent, 39 hours per week We are seeking a dedicated Cleaning Operative to join our Facilities Maintenance Team at HMP Lewes, a Category B male prison. You will work alongside experienced colleagues – from plumbers to administrators – to maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for prisoners, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities Perform daily cleaning and sanitisation of inmate cells, communal areas, and facility spaces. Follow COSHH and other health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment. Work a 39‑hour week, Monday to Friday, supporting the team’s operations. Report any maintenance or safety issues promptly. Qualifications Experience working in a cleaning environment. Knowledge of COSHH and relevant health and safety standards. Excellent organisational, time‑management, and people skills. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a supportive, inclusive team.
