Job Summary Applications are invited for a Consultant Radiologist to join a friendly, forward‑thinking team of 32 Consultant Radiologists at the Royal United Hospital Bath. This post is for a Consultant Radiologist with specialist interest in Non‑Vascular Interventional Radiology (10 PAs). This is a replacement post due to job plan changes in the interventional radiology department. It will support the increase in demand for interventional and diagnostic radiology services and help establish an interventional oncology service. The role is full‑time, but part‑time candidates are also encouraged to apply. The post includes participation in the IR on‑call rota; participation in the diagnostic on‑call rota is optional. Main Duties of the Job The candidate must provide a range of non‑vascular interventional radiology procedures and, ideally, be competent in haemorrhage control. The role also requires a good level of diagnostic radiology competence, with an optional additional specialty of interest. The post holder will contribute to the general radiology workload in partnership with the other radiologists, who perform regular general radiology sessions. The interventional radiology caseload comes primarily from Urology, Gastroenterology, Surgery and a wide range of Oncology patients. Approximately 1 300 IR procedures are performed annually. With this appointment we will provide a 1:5 IR on‑call service from 08:00–17:00, seven days per week, and strive to establish an interventional oncology practice offering thermal ablation and elective embolisation. Qualifications – Essential GMC‑recognised general medical qualification. Full GMC registration with a licence to practise. FRCR certification. Be on the Specialist Register/post‑CCT at commencement of the post. Qualifications – Desirable Recognised interventional radiology fellowship. Non‑IR subspecialty imaging experience (e.g., GU or GI radiology) welcomed within a relevant subspecialty. Skills – Essential Fully accredited clinical radiologist on the GMC specialist register. Extensive current general radiological practice suitable for a district general hospital, including general on‑call skills. Fully motivated to contribute to general and specialised work and maintain a high standard of personal development. Completion of a recognised interventional radiology training programme. Skills – Desirable Adaptability and effective time management. Computing skills. Commitment to ongoing personal development and the specialty. Personal Attributes – Essential Good interpersonal skills, able to relate to staff and patients. Committed to teamwork. Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, tailoring communication to the audience. Ability to work under pressure. Research Experience – Desirable Ability to organise post‑graduate research. Management and Administration – Essential Aware of audit processes, appraisal, principles of clinical governance, confidentiality and data protection.
