METARJ Burton Upon Trent, England, United Kingdom Join to apply for the Stores Supervisor role at METARJ Purpose of role Maintain efficient supervision of the stores and yard, ensuring that plant, equipment, materials and related assets are inspected, maintained, stored, picked and supplied to meet project requirements. Use asset software with PC, tablet, QR and Bluetooth scanning to record plant, equipment and material movements. Monitor security and compliance, and perform loading/unloading operations. Main Responsibilities Identification and logging of all plant, equipment, materials, etc. at the business unit or on site. Inspection of lifting equipment and tackle at the business unit or on‑site. Portable appliance testing of electrical equipment at the business unit or on‑site. Ensure up‑to‑date asset inventories of all plant, equipment and materials in the business unit, on projects and/or at each site. Loading and unloading of all plant, equipment, materials as required to meet deadlines. Ensure the correct assessment of any loads being lifted. Ensure loads are supported/slung correctly and compliance with manual handling regulations. Ensure all loads are safely loaded, suitably secured and appropriate for the vehicle type as advised by the driver. Ensure all received loads are safe to be unloaded and have not become unsafe during transit. Operate plant equipment (Fork Lift Truck, MEWP, Crane, etc.) safely and in compliance with regulations. Liaise with Engineering to order required plant, equipment, materials in good time. Raise purchase orders and items from approved suppliers. Work closely with procurement to secure best pricing. Communicate with Resource Schedulers, Project Engineers and Project Managers for order fulfilment and query resolution. Receive deliveries and alert Engineering of incorrect deliveries. Comply with COSHH requirements, obtaining and filing safety data sheets. Work with Engineering Manager & Project Support on planned maintenance or repair. Ensure all plant, equipment, material requests are complete before release from Depot. Ensure the general upkeep, safety and security of stores facilities. Implement effective stores management processes, e.g. 5S system. Monitor and maintain stock levels to agreed levels. Ensure all new and returned plant, equipment and material are inspected, labelled and returned correctly into stock. Monitor plant/equipment certifications and testing requirements. Ensure all plant, equipment and materials are suitably marked and in working condition before release. Ensure waste is disposed of correctly, logging scrap metal as per procedure. Assign basic tasks to operatives and monitor work. Report all accidents and incidents, including near misses, promptly. Champion best practices in health, safety and environmental safety. Inspect all areas for faulty lights and replace them as required. Maintain control of weeds and grass verges, mowing and trimming if necessary. During wintry periods, ensure entrances are well gritted. Monitor stock of rock salt and advise when low. Perform minor maintenance of building fabric, carpentry, plumbing, etc. Carry out internal and external painting and decorating duties as agreed. Ensure safety signage is visible and replaced when necessary. Move office furniture, erect/dismantle shelving and other items with correct handling. Clean debris from drains and dispose of cardboard boxes in the reception area. Contribute to continuous improvement of internal processes and documentation. Adhere to Company processes: data protection, investigations, disciplinary, absence reporting, etc. Strictly adhere to Company Health and Safety Procedures, ensuring a safe environment. Maintain a positive and professional image of Beck & Pollitzer, wearing correct branded wear and PPE. Essential Qualifications and Experience Hold appropriate plant licences (Fork Lift Truck, MEWP, etc.) and have extensive experience operating in an engineering stores environment. Be trained and experienced as a slinger/banksman. Possess a full, valid UK driving licence. Experience maintaining stock control systems. Be trained and qualified to inspect equipment under LOLER regulations. Be trained and qualified to carry out PAT testing. Experience using internal IT systems such as Excel, Word, Outlook. Ability to use technological applications to achieve efficiency, visibility, mitigate risks and support lean management. Previous supervisor experience.
